In an effort to find Wales’s next leading-edge digital health solutions, Health Technology Wales (HTW) has launched a digital open subject call.
Professionals in the fields of health and social care, as well as those who develop technology and the general public, are encouraged to submit their digital solutions by July 31.
Apps, programs, and software used in the healthcare or care system are examples of digital health technology. Anyone may submit a subject, but HTW gives priority to those having the greatest potential impact on health and social care services. It is especially interested in digital health innovations that might directly help patients, service users, or those who care for them.
The available evidence for each digital health technology presented will be evaluated by HTW, which evaluates non-medical health and care technologies and offers national guidelines on whether they should be implemented in Wales.
After that, a choice will be taken on whether there is enough data to issue guidelines that would encourage the use of the technology in Wales.
“There is a rising need for digital solutions that can address the complex difficulties confronting the health and social care sectors in Wales, particularly as we emerge from the COVID-19 epidemic,” said Eluned Morgan, minister of health and social services. We have already witnessed how digital technology can revolutionize healthcare and enhance people’s quality of life across Wales, enabling individuals who require social care or have health concerns to live freely for longer in their neighborhoods.
“This digital open subject call offers a fascinating chance to find cutting-edge new technology that might directly assist Welsh patients or people getting social care. Though there are likely remedies within reach they haven’t yet been broadly embraced, we still have significant hurdles ahead of us. Anyone who has created or knows of such a solution is encouraged to submit it for evaluation by Health Technology Wales.
Examples of prior HTW evaluations of digital health technologies include the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, which enables diabetics to check their blood glucose levels by scanning a sensor. Freestyle Libre should be regularly used throughout Wales, according to HTW’s stated advice.
“Innovation is the driving force behind all we do in the NHS, enabling us to adapt to the increasing problems we face and give the best possible care to patients and service users,” said Paul Mears, CEO of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Through this open subject call, HTW will be able to find cutting-edge digital solutions that might significantly improve the lives of people in Wales.
Anyone with a digital solution they believe will benefit Wales’ health or social care sectors is strongly encouraged to submit it for evaluation to HTW.
