In an effort to position itself as a center for everything health-related as consumers increasingly choose a combination of in-person and online channels to obtain care and wellness resources, UnitedHealthcare has expanded its collaboration with exercise platform Peloton.

According to the amended and extended agreement, up to 10 million commercial customers of the largest health insurance in the country would be entitled to a free year-long membership to the Peloton App or a three-month waiver toward an All-Access Membership.

In most areas, eligible members will also obtain preferential pricing on a few fitness equipments related to Peloton, such as the Peloton Bike, Bike+, and Tread.

According to Dr. Rhonda Randall, chief medical officer for UnitedHealthcare’s commercial division, “Our initial offer with Peloton is proving helpful in helping inspire many of our members to start or stay active, with the objective of supporting their mental, physical, and emotional health.” By maximizing the value of their health benefits, more people will be able to achieve their fitness objectives.

The declaration follows reports that a federal court had approved UnitedHealth Group’s $13 billion acquisition of Change Healthcare.

Change Healthcare uses data and analytics to enhance the way treatment is delivered and how payments are made in general. According to the company’s website, these analytics may, among other things, “automate provider contracts to assist decrease expenses and enhance productivity.”

The purchase of Change Healthcare and the Peloton agreement both serve as examples of a pattern that is quickly taking root in the linked economy. According to the study “Omnichannel Healthcare Takes Center Stage,” around half of the customers polled used a variety of channels to access the treatment they required.
