Fitbit will be able to be used with a Google account early next year, according to a Fitbit support website, after the tech giant’s acquisition of the consumer electronics and fitness startup.

According to the page, Fitbit Google accounts will provide various benefits, including a single login for Fitbit and other Google services, enhanced security and privacy settings for Fitbit user data, and access to additional Google features through Fitbit.

“Fitbit account support will continue until at least early 2025,” Fitbit states. “After Fitbit account support ceases, a Google account will be required to utilize Fitbit.” We will inform users about the timing for terminating Fitbit accounts via alerts in the Fitbit app, email, and support articles.”

Google will obtain users’ health data as a result of account merging. According to other sources, the business will need customers to consent to the transmission of their Fitbit user data to Google. Google also states that Fitbit health and wellness data will not be used in Google advertisements.

Google Health conducted its second annual Check Up online healthcare event in March, revealing that the firm was launching a new scheduling function that showed providers’ availability to facilitate booking appointments.

“Making a doctor’s appointment might be a source of contention. “The typical wait time for a primary care visit in the United States can be 20 days or longer,” said Hema Budaraju, senior director of product, health, and search social impact. “Access to care should not be this difficult.”
